Reasons To Get Dental Implants
A titanium section is directly implanted into your jaw and gum when you get a dental implant. Due to its unique ability to permanently bond with nearby tissue, Titanium is considered to be biocompatible.
The most common type of dental implant is a single-tooth implant. These implants use one dental crown and an implant to restore a missing tooth. Similar to single-tooth implants, mini implants feature a minimally invasive placement process and are much smaller.
An extended lifespan of more than 30 years is expected for dental implants. Beyond normal teeth cleanings and oral exams and regular flossing and brushing, dental implants do not require any special attention. Furthermore, your implants will remain in place without shifting and feel and look normal. It is also important to note that dental implants prevent bone resorption by preserving your jaw bone. When you bite, eat and chew, these implants stimulate your jaw because they act like artificial roots of a tooth.

Dr. Birkitt will create a placement plan for your implant using digital imaging and x-rays after conducting a detailed initial consultation – which is the first step of the process. Your implant will then be installed during the following appointment.
The treatment area will first be numbed and cleaned at the start of the appointment for the placement. Then, according to your placement plan, he will make a precise incision based on how the implant is inserted into your jaw and gum. Afterward, the area will be sutured once it has been cleaned.
You will then spend some time recovering and healing at home. While it will take three to six months for the new implant to bond fully with the jaw bone, two weeks is enough for the initial healing process.
To check your progress, a few follow-up appointments will be scheduled after the implant is placed. Dr. Birkitt will take dental impressions, or digital scan, and images of your oral cavity and start creating your dental crown (normally referred to as an implant restoration) during the follow-up appointments.
Dr. Birkitt will ensure that the implant restoration fits perfectly by inspecting it after the development of your implant restoration and that your mouth is completely healed. To complete the procedure, the implant restoration will be attached in place.
