Why Choose Birkitt Dental for Your Child’s Dental Care?

Kid-Friendly Environment. Our office is designed so kids can feel relaxed and at ease.

Experienced, Caring Team. We love working with kids! We take the time to explain procedures in a way that’s easy for children to understand.

Preventive Focus. We emphasize the importance of regular check-ups, cleanings, and preventive treatments, such as sealants and fluoride.

Education and Empowerment. We teach the importance of brushing, flossing, and healthy eating in a fun and engaging way.

When Does Your Child First Need to Visit the Dentist?

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, your child’s visit should be around their first birthday. We can’t wait to welcome you and your kids to Birkitt Dental. The initial exam will last about an hour. Much of this first exam will depend on your child’s age, needs, and comfort level. In most cases, we will clean your child’s teeth and evaluate any problems. We will provide suggestions for improving your home care routine.

Tips for a Positive First Visit

Visiting the dentist can be a little daunting for some kids. Here are a few tips to help your child have a great first visit:

Start Early. We recommend bringing your child for their first dental visit by their first birthday or when their first tooth comes in. Early visits help them get used to the environment and build positive associations.

Stay Positive. Use positive language when talking about the dentist. Avoid words like “pain” or “hurt.” Instead, focus on how the dentist is a friendly person who wants to help keep their teeth healthy and their smile beautiful.

Bring a Comfort Item. If your child has a favorite stuffed animal or blanket, feel free to bring it along! Comfort items can make a big difference in helping them feel safe and secure.

Model Good Behavior. Kids look up to their parents, so let them see you brushing, flossing, and attending your own dental check-ups with a smile!
